Our team arrived at Camp Elim in Baurci on Friday July 10, 215 in the evening, from that point the pressure was on to prepare everything for the camp as well as making time to attend church services in the area.
When we first pulled on to the main gates of the camp, it
was surreal and we could not believe that the time finally came to begin our
kid’s camp. Everyone was excited about it and anxious at the same time
especially for those of us that will be mentors for the first time. The guys
and gals that are here for the first time, did not know what to expect and how
their kids would be. Nevertheless, we knew one thing that God was going to
bless our team because through the words of the Holy Spirit, He let us know on
multiple occasions.
God truly blessed us this year with an amazing team and
everyone can hold their own. Then you add the youth from Baurci that will be
helping us and you get something wonderful. Since the team started meeting together
in January, we knew we would have a Baurci team but we did not know who they
would be. It was great to finally meet all of them in person and spend some time
together before the camp began.
The team spent the entire Saturday cleaning, decorating and
preparing the campsite for the 101 kids that will be joining us for the
following week. Each Mentor made sure their rooms were all decorated so that
the kids may enjoy it and be comfortable staying with us.
